What do you guys think of this outfit? I know it's something I would easily wear on a school day. Simple yet looks nice.

Modernized French outfit
I'm a sucker for all things-French, as you know.
Including, the typical French outfit!
You know, this:

or this:

Considering I'd never wear these outfits (Okay - maybe the first one) I thought I'd show my version of the classic French outfit.
What do you guys think?

Etsy? I'll take some

And check out my (half) sister's mom's new shop!
She is currently unemployed and is trying to supplement her income some.
She makes scarves, cowls, and more.
In fact, I just bought this scarf:

Check it out here!

Weekend outfits: I'm just a regular business woman these days.
Remember when I went to district level competition for the Marketing program of students I'm in; DECA? (The largest student-lead organization in the world, I hear.)
Well, I didn't qualify for state, my parter and I were runner-ups.
However...
it turns out that there is a DECA Quiz Bowl team here at state level, and our Marketing teacher got to pick a few 'select' students to participate, and he chose me!
So, at 10am this Friday, I will be headed to state competition.
There's a couple funny things to this story though:
1) I have to be dressed 'business professional' at all events
2) If we don't pass the preliminary round that's Friday night, technically I'm done for the rest of the weekend.
3) Saturday night, we're going to a hockey game. All 2,500 of us students competing at state-level.
Well, you guys are professional adults. I thought I'd give you a look at my 'professional' outfits.
(Sorry none of the photos are full-body shots, none of my family can take pictures worth crap, so I have to do it myself.)
Saturday:
Sweater: Max Rave
Top: Old Navy
Skirt: Old Navy
Shoes (not pictured): Target
Sunday:
Top: Target
Sweater: Old Navy
Skirt: F21
Shoes (not pictured): Target
Saturday night hockey game (casual):
Tank: Old Navy
Top: F21
Cardigan: F21
Jeans: American Eagle
Belt: American Eagle
Shoes: TOMS
Oh, and I bought myself my first purse. Yeah. Not sure how I feel on this, because I never thought the day would come. But, I knew that I would need something to be able to hold all of my money, my phone, schedule, and all that other junk I'd be needing this weekend. Isn't it cute though?
And my new wallet/clutch:
Well, what do you think? Professional enough? I hope so! :)
I really don't care if the Quiz Bowl team wins or loses: If we win, that's great, but if we don't pass the preliminaries, I've got a full day free at a 4 star hotel! ;)
Wish us all luck. I will blog about it when we get back. See you on the flip side, friends.
Have an awesome weekend!

Being 16, I'm sorta poor.
I have today and Monday off of school for mid-winter break. :)
(Although... it's more 'beginning-of-spring break, considering it's almost 50 degrees outside, and all the snow's melted. Anyway.)
I got to looking to some clothes online, like I do a lot of the time. I keep finding all of these things that I want, but just do not have the money for.
I'm going to need to get some new clothes for spring, and I'm looking for other places to buy things cheaper.
So, I'm going to show some comparisons of things that are too pricey, versus things that are definitely in my budget.

American Eagle Sandals:
$29.50

F21 Sandals:
$13.80

American Eagle Bermuda Shorts:
$39.50

F21 Bermuda Shorts:
$19.80

Abercrombie and Fitch Tank:
$48

Charlotte Russe Tank:
$26.50
(I don't love how they show the model wearing it, but I think it would be cute with some distressed shorts and metallic sandals.)

Hollister Dress:
$49.50

Old Navy Dress:
$34.50
(I'm in looove with this dress.)
So, what do you think? Think I could pull off some summer looks for cheap?
Also, where do you go to get clothes for a bargain? I need some more ideas. ;)
Also, here are my Photo Friday finds:

Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!

Spring is in the air. Or is it?
Happy MLK Jr. day, everyone!
I'm feeling rather spring-ish today. And then looking online at spring clothes... makes me want spring. :) Unfortunately, in Michigan, it won't hit 50 degrees until about late-April.
But I'm sure wishful thinking can only help things.

Sorry, American Eagle threw up all over this post. My bad.
I'm really loving pastels. Maybe it's just because they seem to say, "Spring. New beginnings. Warm weather. Newness." :)
Have a great Monday!

Watch out!
There's a new driver on the road.

Well, not really.
I've just been practicing in my driver's training class. I don't even know where to begin with that one.
Yesterday was my first time driving. I got to be with my friend of 7+ years (I know, I'm too young to be able to say that). It was rough. We just drove around a small residential area in our town, which really wan't the worst part. That was getting the car straight with the curb, when backing up. I can back up just fine - it's the straightening it out. I was so frustrated, I wanted to cry! That sounds pathetic, but it's true. I could tell that my instructor was getting a little frustrated with me as well. That's what made it even worse. But, we got past that.
Today's drive was much, much better I must say. I did tons of lane changes and turns, and it's such a relief to have things come easier. Practice makes perfect; they weren't joking.
And about DECA?
Well... we didn't do as great as I'd expected. My partner & I didn't get any metals, and we're not going to State. Turns out that our teacher put us in a category that he normally saves for Marketing 2 students. We're first year. He claims he wanted to 'challenge us'. Well, we didn't understand exactly what we were supposed to do so that's why we didn't place. So sad! Eh, oh well. I didn't really want to go in the first place anyway. :)
Other than that, life's been so busy. I haven't had time for anything now, between drivers training, homework, and sleep.
Although, I'm pretty happy that I just got my new boots in the mail from Love Culture. :)

Eh.
I'm feeling rather teenage-ish today.

Stayed up too late last night at a friends house, didn't get enough sleep.
Good news though: I just got back from shopping with my dad, and I got the cutest scarf at Charlotte Russe.
(I'm obsessed with scarves as of late.)

Oh, and I'm pretty ecstatic because I found the perfect gift for my brother-in-law, Josh. A record of one of Muse's albums. Him and my sister have a record player, and he loves Muse.
Awesome idea, right? Thanks F.Y.E!
Just 3 days until I get to see my family in Tennessee!
Hope everyone's Christmasing is going great!

Just a rant and some other fun stuff.

Am I the only one that hates buying things from Forever 21?
In magazines, online, and in person all anyone ever talks about as far as cute clothes go, is how much they LOVE F21 and how it's so cute and so cheap.
Yes, they're cute. And yes, they're cheap.
But everything FALLS APART the first time you wash it! What's the point in even buying the darn things if they don't last?
I bought a plain, longsleeved red t-shirt there a couple months ago, for like $7. Don't know what I was thinking. When I got home and ripped the price tag off, the tag that says the size came right off with it. Not that big of a deal, but that sort of just screams 'low quality' right there. And now it's starting to get a little hole in it towards the top. Not a big deal for now, but I know in about 5 washes I won't be able to wear it anymore.
ANYWAY.
On another note. I just got back from the family Christmas party I mentioned in my blanks yesterday. It was so fun! I played Apples to Apples with about half the family, and it was the first time I've ever played it. (Weird, right?) That game is sweet! Too bad my family consists of only 3 people, total. Right? Haha. Guess we'll have to save it for family get-togethers!
In other OTHER news...

How cute's this scarf from Gap? I'm not a fan of orange or red (which, this scarf seems to be an odd mix of them both), but I want this. Unfortunately, at just under $30, it's a little too rich for my (teenager-with-no-job) blood.
Hope everyone's having a fabulous weekend. :)
