My weekend & a phobia.

This weekend was Michigan DECA.

Oh. Man.

What a great/bittersweet weekend.

Let me start off with Friday.
We get to the hotel that the events are taking place at, at about 1:30. We end up having to get dressed for Quiz Bowl (the preliminary rounds were at 4) in our teacher's mom's room because the hotel (4 star, by the way) doesn't have all of the rooms ready. Which is kind of ridiculous. Anyway, Quiz bowl.
We won the first round 17-2! Piece of cake.
...then proceeded to lose the second round 8-4. Ha.

It's okay though. It was so much fun. I definitely want to do it again.

On Saturday, we really didn't have much to do, since we were out of the contest. We have breakfast in the morning, and around 2:00 one of my roommates asked if I wanted to go with her and a couple other girls to walk around town a bit. We do, and it was so much fun! We just browse a bit. Things are pretty expensive.
Meanwhile, my roommate keeps saying that her stomach hurts. I don't think too much of it though, because she has a blood disorder, and didn't take her pill. Oh, and she's a complainer.

My other roommate, her, and I, decide to go down to the lobby and get some dinner at the restaurant there.
Long story short - and I'll spare you the details - she PUKED in the elevator! I about flipped my lid. I screamed a little. It's a phobia of mine; puking. I can't take it. Whenever someone even TELLS me their stomach hurts, I get all shaky.

Ugh.

Then, the back of my jeans got splattered a bit. And I only brought one pair with me. So I have to wear a skirt the rest of the weekend. It sucked. :( That included a hockey game.

BUT, nevertheless, my roommates (besides the pukey girl) completely and totally rocked. I made three new friends! They are so awesome.

I recall eating a lot of elk jerky, pretzel rods, and a $9 pint of ice cream (that sucked).

I'm going again next year.

Weekend outfits: I'm just a regular business woman these days.

Remember when I went to district level competition for the Marketing program of students I'm in; DECA? (The largest student-lead organization in the world, I hear.)
Well, I didn't qualify for state, my parter and I were runner-ups.

However...
it turns out that there is a DECA Quiz Bowl team here at state level, and our Marketing teacher got to pick a few 'select' students to participate, and he chose me!

So, at 10am this Friday, I will be headed to state competition.

There's a couple funny things to this story though:

1) I have to be dressed 'business professional' at all events
2) If we don't pass the preliminary round that's Friday night, technically I'm done for the rest of the weekend.
3) Saturday night, we're going to a hockey game. All 2,500 of us students competing at state-level.

Well, you guys are professional adults. I thought I'd give you a look at my 'professional' outfits.

(Sorry none of the photos are full-body shots, none of my family can take pictures worth crap, so I have to do it myself.)

Saturday:

Sweater: Max Rave
Top: Old Navy
Skirt: Old Navy
Shoes (not pictured): Target

Sunday:

Top: Target
Sweater: Old Navy
Skirt: F21
Shoes (not pictured): Target

Saturday night hockey game (casual):

Tank: Old Navy
Top: F21
Cardigan: F21
Jeans: American Eagle
Belt: American Eagle
Shoes: TOMS

Oh, and I bought myself my first purse. Yeah. Not sure how I feel on this, because I never thought the day would come. But, I knew that I would need something to be able to hold all of my money, my phone, schedule, and all that other junk I'd be needing this weekend. Isn't it cute though?

And my new wallet/clutch:

Well, what do you think? Professional enough? I hope so! :)

I really don't care if the Quiz Bowl team wins or loses: If we win, that's great, but if we don't pass the preliminaries, I've got a full day free at a 4 star hotel! ;)

Wish us all luck. I will blog about it when we get back. See you on the flip side, friends.
Have an awesome weekend!

I heart birthdays.

It's my birthday February 11.

I love, love, love birthdays!
To me, they are YOUR one special day of the entire year.

Plans are still undecided on as far as what I'm going to be doing, but one thing's for sure: I know what I want. :D

A new pair of TOMS Shoes. (And hey, some cash might be nice too.)
I own two pairs - white and gray Classics. Unfortunately, the white have gotten too stained to wear, and I just got a hole in one of my gray shoes. :( That was a sad day.

I'm deciding between:
Navy Classics

and

Olive Classics.

I think I'm leaning towards the navy pair, just because I wear so much of that and gray. (One thing I love about those colors: they're so interchangeable.) Although, part of me wonders if I should get the olive pair just to switch things up a bit. But I know for sure I'd love the blue pair. And part of me wants to just wait until new pairs come out in the Spring, because right now it's pretty slim pickings as far as choices. I know I'll see something I want then. What do you think I should do?

I am so excited for my birthday! Bummed I won't be able to get my license until mid-June at the earliest, but hey. Can't focus on that, right?
I'm turning sixteen!
I hear this is like a milestone or something.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to a great weekend ahead of me. Relaxing at home for now, but heading up to the larger city in our area to go shopping tomorrow, and probably get a steak at Texas Roadhouse. (I'm not in love with steak, but if you haven't gotten one from Texas Roadhouse you haven't lived! Ahh I'm hungry already.)

Happy weekending to you all!

Monday Photos and Weekend Wrap-up - November 1

Happy Monday!

This week's photo theme is:

In other news, my weekend was
amazing
once again. Let me share. :)

Friday: I come home from school to see my aunt and step uncle here. That was a nice surprise to start the weekend. :)

Saturday: This is where it gets good. I was SO incredibly busy Saturday. My dad took my friend Lindsey and I to the football playoff game. That was fun. Then I go and LOSE my brand new phone! Whoops. Mistake. We go searching around the entire football stadium for a good 20 minutes. Give up. End up talking to someone at the concession stand, and they take us up to the press box to see if someone had turned it in. I immediately see it sitting on the desk. The lady sitting there questioned me. I can understand that, to a degree, but she seriously thought I was like lying or something. Ha. Anyway, we go buy hot dogs and can finally enjoy the rest of the game.

After the game, my friends Dylan and Tim meet up with us, and we go to my church for this big, annual Halloween party they throw. Basically kids come, they play a game, and then you hand them candy. Lucky for Dylan, Tim, and I... we all got games that had three little balls, and when the kids missed whatever they were aiming for (every time), then you had to bend over and pick the balls up. So, long story short, we all were bending over for 2 hours straight.
We had such a great time though! It was so much fun.
Saturday = Success.

Sunday: Sore from Saturday, I go to church and that's about it until 5:30. I end up going to my friends youth group (we carved pumpkins!), and Dylan, Tim, Lindsey and myself all go mini-golfing right afterwards. How fun! We all stopped playing after about the 9th hole. Have you ever completely finished a game of mini golf? I know I haven't. We get goofy halfway through and then just mess around.

How was your weekend?

Monday Photos and Weekend Wrap-up

First...

This Monday's photos.

And the theme is...

Books.

Sound weird?
Just take a look at these pics:

Today's post is a little bit longer, however, because I feel this great need from deep within me to tell you all about my great weekend. :)

Friday:
My friend Lindsey and I decided to go to the Constantine vs. Schoolcraft football game. (Two smaller schools in our area.) We have some friends who march in the band, so we thought we'd go out and support them.
Constantine's school colors are red and white. I don't own any red (I think it's kind of ugly) so I had to show support for the team through my Falcon stamp (their mascot).

The march... was hilarious! Overall it was just average marching, but the percussion (what they're both in) did this HILARIOUS dance like twice during it. Like, I'm laughing out loud.

Saturday:
Lindsey spent the night, and we went to Grand Rapids to go shopping with my youth pastor's wife. We had a great time! It was nice to go to one of the bigger cities, and spend some time with both of them.

Here's a picture of the dressing room carpet at Delia's:
Exotic.

Lindsey ends up staying another night. Fine by me! But... I will say there was a shortage of sleep Saturday night. ;)

Sunday:
On Sunday, after church, we took her home. Major bummer, especially since she spent the whole weekend with me! I hate that feeling after someone leaves.
In other news though, my youth group went to a corn maze. We had a blast! It was so fun. And most definitely perfect fall weather. It was about 70 degrees. We were able to go through it in just a T-shirt! Awesome times. :)

Photo's a little blurry, but it was fun. :)

Spooky, no?

Dark outside. Pretty fall though. :)

How was your weekend or Monday?
