I got a case of the Mondays.

I hate Mondays just as much as you do.
In effort to alleviate the public's general distaste for this day, I think I am going to start posting encouraging photos every Monday, to brighten things up a bit.

For your viewing enjoyment, and to make your Monday a little less suckish:

Cheers!
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Here's to Tuesday!

Things that make me happy.

I started to make a list of things that made me happy, thinking one day it might be a cool blog post. Then I saw this post and knew it was time to do it.

Things that make me happy.
Apple-picking. (Okay... I've never done this. But it looks fun.)
Blogging.
Celebrating things.
Dogs.
Eiffel Tower.
Franks from Nashville's finest "weinery".
Gray and yellow and white together.
Hugs.
IKEA.
Jeff Owen from Tenth Avenue North's head bobs when Mike Donehey was introducing him at a concert.
Kids. (Certain kids. Not all kids.)
Laughter.
Memories.
New friends.
Old people telling me interesting stories of their lives.
Pictures of Paris.
Quiet classrooms.
Rain pounding on the roof at night.
Simplicity.
TOMS shoes.
Underneath blankets in the winter.
Velcro. (K. Not really.)
Water slides.
Xylophones. (?)
Yellow floral patterns.
Zoos.

Fill in the Blank Friday #5

Fill in the blank Friday.

1) In the story of my life the actor that would play me would be Emma Roberts? Dakota Fanning? Just trying to think of young actors. That's about all I got.
2) If I could change one thing about the world it would be that everyone could just get along, and act like a person. Some people are so ridiculous.
3) Yesterday was a good day. Better than average. Although I do have to say, TGIF!
4) My favorite comfort food is hmm... Normally I'll just reach for whatever's closest! I don't like to cook unless I'm in the 'mood' for it;
5) My new favorite blog find is Marisa Cherie. It's off one woman's journey on a trip to Europe.
6) If I could meet any blog friend (who I haven't met yet) in real life, I'd choose to meet Lauren from The Little Things We Do... We've talked a few times and that would be way cool. :)
7) My favorite breakfast food is I love everything. Pancakes, Waffles, the more the merrier!

The... er-year, in review.

Happy Wednesday to you all.
Or as the Spanish would say, "Feliz miercoles."
Or as the French would say, "Bon mercredi."
(I so wish I was French.)

Anyway.

I noticed I haven't talked about school as much as I would like.
So I thought it would be kind of fun to fill you all in.

Here we go.

1st block.
Chemistry.

Originally, I thought this class would seriously blow.
When I was in the 8th grade, we briefly touched on Chemistry.
All we did though, was balancing equations.
You know, like this:

H2O+C6 H12 O2 = H4+O7

Okay, that equation probably made like no sense.
Anyway, I was really bad at solving Chemistry problems.
I was wrong about Chemistry though. I had developed this idea in my head that balancing equations was all it was about.
Lucky for me, I was WRONG!
It's the middle of the 3rd week of school, and we've already done like 4 labs. How fun!
I've done things involving
Bunson burners,
Hot plates,
paper clips,
thermometers,
BTB,
Vinegar,
Baking Soda,
Calcium Chloride,
& more.

2nd block
Spanish.

Where do I begin with el espaƱol?

The first day, we got put into groups. I have a partner.
No offense, but I got stuck with THAT guy.
The kid that pays no attention, and then asks me what we're supposed to do.
The kid who has fingernails longer than the average girl.
The kid who wants to go into fortune telling, so he tries to put his 'intuition' to use when we play memory with our flashcards.

I got that kid.

The overall class though, isn't too bad I suppose.
My teacher though... she's really great. She's nice.
But she talks like she got punched in the throat at a young age.
So softly.

3rd block
Basic Econ.

The first day of school, my teacher seemed pretty cool.
He likes Notre Dame, he is pretty young, and likes to have fun in class.
That is, until I noticed that he pretty much has favorites.
I don't play basketball, and considering that he's the girl's coach,
he seems to 'favor' the ones that did.
He constantly makes jokes with the 'popular' people,
and because I'm just your average Joe (Joanna?), I laugh off in the distance and pretend like his joke was funny.

I know that sounds like I really hate him, but he's actually kind of cool sometimes.

4th block
Language Arts.

I love my teacher!
Two years in a row, I couldn't be happier about it.
She's that cool teacher.
The one that doesn't give you much work,
will let you talk all you want (for the most part),
and even cusses in class sometimes to get her point across.
(It's actually pretty funny.)
Not to mention, the other day she gave me and my friend some rice cakes. The snack kind, you know.

Yum.

5th block
Marketing.

Eh.
I don't have many friends in this class, just a few acquaintances.
The teacher is pretty rad, but the work is just... ugh.
4 P's of marketing. 5 functions of marketing. (Or is it 7? I better go study up for the test tomorrow...)

6th block
Geometry.

Geometry. What a class.
I have a good (?) teacher. He seems pretty cool.
But honestly, I don't think I have ever seen this guy smile.
He makes jokes, and he is pretty funny...
But he doesn't smile.
He's that serious.
And it's weird, considering he has an entire bulletin board in his class covered in funny math quotes.
(i.e. 'Calculus has its limits', 'Decimals have a point', etc. etc.)

Believe it or not, my sophomore year is looking to be pretty average.

I want a lot of stuff.

I want a lot of stuff right now.

~~~
This great hoodie from American Eagle that would be good for fall.
These jeans from American Eagle. I love their dark wash jeans. I have a pair just like it, but honestly I could never have enough dark jeans.
These awesome TOMS. I could use another pair: who can't. :)
This duvet cover from IKEA. It's only $9.99!
If I couldn't get the duvet cover, I want this bed I found on House of Turquoise. I am in love with it!
This sign I found on Etsy.
This adorable print called "Driving in Europe" I saw on Etsy.
A Nikon D5000.
A white case for my iPod Touch. I've had it for about 6 months but just haven't gotten around to buying one.
A new BlackBerry.
That's my wish list as of now.
I guess it could really be my Christmas list. After all, it's coming up pretty soon! :O
Happenings at School
Today I had an appointment with my guidance counselor at school.
I wanted to talk about what options I would have if I were to drop choir, one of the classes that I have taken since the 7th grade.
My heart has never really been in choir, but... it was fun.
Really... I think I felt the people were more fun than the actual singing.
I talked to my counselor and decided that I should drop choir, and take Marketing.
My sister is the Marketing Manager at Provident Label Group, in Nashville, Tennessee. Ever since she has had her job, I thought it was just the coolest thing, and I wanted to do just that job when I grow up.
I switched classes.
Over the past year, I have developed a great relationship with my choir teacher, Mr. Moore. It was incredibly hard to say goodbye to the choir program, and I have been wishing I didn't do it. Deep down though, I know I made the right decision. If I want to pursue a career, I need to first find out if I like it, right?
Even thought switching from Choir to Marketing has made my day even worse than it already is... I know I made the right decision... no matter how bad I feel.
I know it may seem like I'm making a big deal out of this situation, but I'm going to miss my choir friends so much.
Here's to a great year for you all. :)
Homemade White Board
Look what I made!
It's a white board for my locker. I know it's not much,
and even a little kid could do it, but I'm proud. :)
I originally got the idea from my sister's friend, Suzy, who had made one for my sister. I thought it was a brilliant idea, and decided to make one myself.
Here's how I did it:
-I bought a picture frame at a craft store for $1.
-I painted it a metallic silver (one of my favorite colors).
-After letting it dry, I cut a piece of decorative paper (in one of my favorite colors) to fit.
-Then I placed glass inside.
-I bought strips of magnetic tape, and stuck them to the back:
-Viola! A homemade white board.
It was so easy to make, and will look so great in my locker!
Hope you were inspired!
Fill in the Blank Friday #4
1. If I didn't have to work anymore I'd... actually, I go to school. If I didn't have to go to school anymore, I'd still go to school, because I have to get an education. And if I didn't get an education I would go nowhere in this world; I wouldn't be able to get a job, no one would marry me because I didn't have a job or a life, and it'd be a mess.
2. My favorite thing about a vacation is experiencing new things. Visiting places I've never been; I love traveling. It's also fun to meet new people, and see what things are like over in their little nook of the world.
3. When packing for a trip I usually forget something. I've been doing better with that lately though. A lot of the times I wait until the last day to pack. Bad idea. :)
4. If I could go on a roadtrip with anyone (dead OR alive) I would choose besides Jesus, I would pick John Mayer, because he seems like he would be a great person to go on a roadtrip with. He's funny, a spur-of-the-moment sort of guy, and we would go... where wouldn't we go?
5. My top 3 absolute travel essentials are... 1) snacks, 2) a person who will let me go to the bathroom whenever I please, and 3) reading material. Books, magazines.
6. Vacations are great! Something my family doesn't do nearly enough.
7. On vacations you must always have fun. Make it a vacation worth remembering. After all, how often do you take them?
